Reading this site is subject to the conditions below. They are written plainly on purpose, because a health site that hides its terms in legal language is not being straight with anyone.
What the articles are, and are not
Everything published here is general health information written for a lay reader. It is not a diagnosis, not a treatment plan and not a prescription, and it cannot know your age, your history, your medication or your test results. Our Medical Disclaimer sets this out at greater length and forms part of these conditions. Decisions about your own body — or your child’s — belong with you and a clinician who can examine you, never with an article.
Urgent symptoms
Nothing on this site should be used to decide whether something can wait. Severe pain, breathing difficulty, bleeding, a fever in a young infant or a sudden change in an unwell person are reasons to seek care immediately rather than to keep reading.
Reading and reusing the text
Read as much as you want, print a page for your own reference, send a link to anyone. Quoting a short passage with a link back is fine. Lifting entire articles, or scraping the site in bulk, is not — that requires written permission.
Accuracy and dating
Articles are dated, and health guidance is revised as evidence accumulates. Some pieces here predate the current advice on their subject. We make no promise that the site is complete, uninterrupted, current or free of error, and to the extent the law permits we exclude liability for loss arising from its use or from reliance on it.
Sponsored placements and outbound links
Some pages carry advertising or paid links, and articles cite outside sources. None of that is a recommendation of a product, clinic or practitioner, and we have no control over what any third party publishes, sells or does. Whatever passes between you and such a party is a matter between the two of you.
